RULES

GENERAL

1. Safety comes first.

2. All participants must sign a waiver. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and forfeiture of all points.

3. Be respectful and considerate of other people and horses.

4. Judge’s decisions are final.

5. No dogs.

6. No alcohol.

7. No ‘horseplay’ or roughhousing on show grounds.

8. Unmanageable horses that endanger the safety of the rider, other people or other horses will be dismissed.

9. Unnecessary roughness and abuse of animals will not be permitted. Unnecessary spurring, striking or beating of the horse will result in disqualification of rider/exhibitor for the remainder of the show. No refund will be given.

10. All decisions made by show management are final.

11. Any discourtesy or acting unmannerly towards any Judge, Show Officials, spectator(s) will NOT be permitted. Such behavior reported to a show official may result in the exhibitor being disqualified for the remainder of the show.

12. NSF Checks: Individuals presenting HDC with checks which cannot be redeemed for the full amount in cash are subject to appropriate legal processing and prosecution as well as expulsion from participating in cutting horse events. A $50 fee will be charged to NSF checks.

13. Any issues or items not addressed in HDC rules will be deferred to NCHA or NRCHA rules.

14. Membership fees are non-refundable.

 

ATTIRE

15. Western attire is required for all participants (including herd help). This includes: western hat or helmet, boots and long-sleeved shirts. Chaps are optional.

 

TACK

16. All tack must be in good repair. No baling twine, wire, etc.

17. All bits and equipment must be NCHA or NRCHA approved (see respective Rulebook). No gag bits, gimmicks, etc.

18. Romal reins will be allowed in all classes on one handed, shanked bits. HERD HELP

19. Participants are responsible for securing their own herd help.

20. Herd help shall not intentionally scatter or hinder the competitor in any way.

21. Herd help may use humane training aids. Western attire required.

CLASSES

22. Classes with fewer than 3 people may be canceled.

23. HDC Board of Directors reserves the right to reclassify any contestant that they feel is violating the intention of the class. 24.Entering classes for which a horse/rider is not eligible is not allowed and any points earned by violating eligibility will be forfeited.

25. Once a class has begun, no entries will be accepted into that class.

26. All day of entries must be submitted to the show secretary and paid for in full BEFORE the commencement of classes entered.

27. Points will be based on the number of qualifying runs/rides in each class. For example: 10 riders= 1st place gets 10 points, 2nd place gets 9 points, etc.

28. Zero’s or DQ’s will not be awarded points or counted in the class total.

29. Class will be judged per NCHA or NRCHA (boxing) rules with the exception of reining penalties. With that exception, all other credits and penalties that are found on the judge’s sheet will be applicable.

30. A contestant that is late for their class will lose their place in the draw and will ride last for that class.

31.The draw will be done by the show management. Late entries will be added to the bottom of the draw. Accidentally omitted entrants will be drawn into class regardless if working order has been posted or not.

AWARDS

32. Year-end awards shall be given to qualifying riders at the end of the show season at the Annual Awards Banquet.

33. Contestants must compete in 3 of 4 shows to be eligible for Year-end awards.
